Applying Policies

A policy defines rules of Internet site access and rules of applications usage by the students. The policy must be created using the PolicyControl product. The teacher version of PolicyControl must be installed in your computer for you to use this function.

The Apply Policy window displays the policies that can be applied to the students computers. This window is also responsible to display a button to allow the creation of new policies or edition of existing ones.

When the Apply Policy button is pressed in the Main window of v-Class Teacher, if the PolicyControl is not installed in your computer, a message will be displayed, indicated that this application must be installed for you to use this feature of v-Class Teacher.

When the Apply Policy window is opened, if there are no policies created, a message will be displayed explaining that you must press the Edit Policies button to open PolicyControl and create a new policy. For information about PolicyControl, see its user manual or its help topics.

Fields and Commands

Login

This field displays the login of the connected students. You can select the students that you want to apply the policy in their computers.

Active Policy

This field displays the policy name if it is active in the corresponding student computer and displays the “None” value if there is no active policy.

Policies

This field allows you to select the policy that you want to apply to the selected students. This field will only be enabled if there is at least a policy created through PolicyControl.

Start Policy

This button allows you to activate the policy in the selected students computers. This button is only enabled after you select at least one student in the list and a policy in the Policies field.

Stop Policy

This button allows you to deactivate the policy in the selected students computers. This button is only enabled if there is an active policy to the selected student.

Edit Policies

This button displays the PolicyControl for the creation of a new policy or edition of an existing policy. After a policy is created, it will be displayed in the Policies field.

Select All

This button allows you to select all the students in the list. When all students are selected, the policy can be activated in their computers.

When this field is unchecked, the selection of the students is removed.

Help

This button displays the Help window where you can navigate through the v-Class Teacher help topics.

Close

This button closes the Apply Policy window and returns to the Main window.
