Creating Chat Groups

The Chat Groups window allows you to send and receive instant messages to a students chat group, created by you. Many groups can be created and you can choose which students will be part of each group. All your messages and all messages sent by the students in the group will be visible to all members of the group.

Fields and Commands

Chat Groups List

In this group, the chat groups already created are displayed in a list, and it is indicated if the group is active or not. You also have commands to create a new group, edit or remove an existing one.

Group Name

This field displays the name of the chat group that you have created.

Active

This field displays if the corresponding chat group is active or not. When a group is active, you and the students that are members of the group can send messages to the group. To activate a group, you must check this field. When the field is unchecked, the group becomes inactive, disabling the exchange of texts messages between its members.

Select All

This field allows you to select all chat groups in the list. To remove the selection of all groups, just uncheck this field.

New

This button allows the creation of a new chat group. This command enables the Chat Group Configuration group, where the fields necessary to create a new group are located. You can insert into the group how many students you want.

Edit

This button allows you to edit an existing chat group. Through this command it's possible to remove students from the group, insert students in the group and rename the group.

Remove

This button allows you to remove one or more chat groups already created. To remove a group, you must select it in the list and press the Remove button. If you want to remove all groups, check the Select All field and then press the Remove button.

Chat Group Configuration

In this group, the fields and commands necessary to create or edit a chat group are displayed, as illustrated by the following picture:

Ghat Group Name

Enter in this field the name for the chat group that you want to create or edit.

Available Students

In this field a list with the login of the connected students are displayed. The students in this list can be selected to be included in a chat group.

Select All

This field allows you to select all students in the Available Students list.

Include students in the group

To include a student in the group you must select the desired student in the Available Students list and then press the button. The student will be moved from this list to the Students in Group list. Once inserted in a group, the same student will not be able to participate of another group.

Remove students from the group

To remove a student from the group you must select the desired student in the Students in Group list and then press the button. The student will be moved from this list to the Available Students list.

Students in Group

This field displays a list with the login of the students that are members of the current group.

Select All

This field allows you to select all students that are listed in the Students in Group list.

OK

This button saves the information that you entered in the fields to create or edit a chat group.

Cancel

This button cancels the creation of a group or discards the changes made to an existing group.

Chat Groups Monitor

This group displays the fields to view the messages sent and received in each chat group. You can also send messages to the chat group. You can activate more then one group at the same time. Each group will be displayed in a different panel, as illustrated in the following picture, that displays a group named “Class A”, that is active.

Messages History

The first field displays the messages history, which means that all messages sent to the group will be displayed. This field is read-only and it cannot be modified.

Type Message

The second field is available for you to type a message to send to the chat group. After typing the desired message, you can press the Send button to send it.

Send

This field allows you to send the typed message to all students in the chat group.

Help

This button displays the Help window where you can navigate through the v-Class Teacher help topics.

Close

This button closes the Chat Groups window and the application returns to the Main window.
